<i>"I'm very partial to land. It's the key to building up long-term wealth…I like stuff in the ground—metals, hydrocarbons, oil, even natural gas."</i> -- Jeremy Grantham, Barrons.com
In August, 2011, GMO, his investment company, owned shares in 22 oil and gas companies. In November this year, his company purchased over a million shares in Nexen, a Canadian oil and gas company.
Some of the other companies he has shares of are Canadian Natural Resources, Suncor and Exxon.
I mention these, as they all produce oil from the Athabasca oil sands, and will use the Keystone pipeline to send that oil to the US.This is the pipeline he is railing against, and of which he defends opposition to.
So, which is it? Is he for or against the pipeline? His words are against, but his money is betting on the pipeline.
If one takes a moral stand, one's actions should be in accord with that action, not opposed.
